Conclusion of Spanish State Visit

The Spanish state visit to the Netherlands wrapped up on Thursday. Queen Letizia, not surprisingly, did not wear any additional pieces of millinery (tiara excepted!) while Queen Máxima finished the visit with a repeated tall bandeau headpiece in the same beautifully embroidered pink fabric as her coat.

It’s a polished piece with full headpiece presence that fit so well for this kind of event- hosting a foreign colleague who rarely wears millinery. It makes a statement without stealing the show.

  1. Max looks great; the close-up photos of her coat reveal just how beautiful it is.

Letizia’s wonderful headpiece (Carolina Herrera) with her red dress were both debuted on November 24, 2021 on a Swedish State visit. It’s a shame she didn’t wear it again this time around.

Enjoy a little information about this ensemble, with a super close-up photo of the headpiece which was left behind.

    • Great catch, Jimbo. Unfortunately, we’ve never seen Letizia wear a headpiece beyond the first day of a state visit, so no surprise she elected to leave this one at home. Although… this photo suggests otherwise!

  2. Wonderful to see this bandeau again after so long; I had actually forgotten about it! It looks as lovely as ever, and pairs perfectly with her hair down this time. And while there was no hat for Letizia (it would’ve been much more surprising if she had worn something on her head), her vibrant color-blocking outfit is spectacular and allows her to shine. Brava all around!

  3. I suspect smaller headpieces/hats were also worn by Mathilde for a similar reason when visiting the Grand Duchess… but not as well chosen
