Last Friday, Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako attended the ceremony to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the International Cosmos Prize, an award given each year to outstanding research work and/or achievement which promotes the philosophy of the 1990 Japan expo theme of “The Harmonious Coexistence between Nature and Mankind.” For this event, Princess Masako repeated her white hat with pork pie crown and upfolded kettle brim, trimmed with a wide royal blue hatband. The hat is a sharp topper for Masako’s royal blue suit, a colour that is fantastic on her.
We’ve seen Masako’s attendance at royal events steadily increase, something which is wonderful to see. What do you think of this high contrast hat?

CP Masako looks lovely and happy to be there.
Quite an attractive ensemble and color for Masako! I personally would love to see a little feather trim on the hat, but I usually only expect that from Hisako haha.
Wonderful to see more of CP Masako. She looks most attractive in the royal blue. It would be nice to see her in a different style.
It looks a little big for her head, but I LOVE the saturated color of the band!
I agree, the hat is sitting too low over Masako’s eyebrows; but like you, I LOVE the hat-band colour. An outing of a Japanese royal lady in a saturated colour is a red letter day for me — jet-black hair can have no better accompaniment. Here’s the princess glowing in an all-blue hat and outfit in 1999: https://blog-imgs-48.fc2.com/y/a/m/yamanokoyama/2013121421534473e.png
mcncln, thanks for that lovely photo! CPMasako looks terrific in saturated colors!
