Ascot 2022 Day 2: Kent Family

Princess Alexandra was included in today’s carriage procession at Royal Ascot. She repeated a hat in pale wheat hued sinamay, the brimmed design is overlaid in windowpane sinamay that gives a subtle lattice pattern to the piece. It is trimmed with a layered hatband, vibrant green sinamay flower and bows in the two colours. The green flower and bows is a new addition today.

    • Absolutely! I should have looked further back in her archive but that green trim is new and makes the piece seem new! Amazing what the addition of a flower can do to change the look of a hat.

  1. For some reason I had thought this was a retrimmed hat on Alexandra, but I suppose it’s one of her go-to shapes, hence my confusion haha. A lovely look and the jaunty angle was a bit unexpected, but not unwelcome. I have always loved this coat on her, and I hope the original hat that went with it hasn’t disappeared.

I agree Flora and Zenouska both look nice, but are a bit too monochrome for my tastes; I kinda thought Zenouska would choose a hat in the sky blue shades of her accessories rather than matching it to her dress.

  2. Lovely to see Princess Alexandra and her two granddaughters.

The Princess’s new hat is gorgeous. I love the lattice overlay. Most unusual and lovely. The hatband and trim just add to it’s appeal.

Flora and Zenouska both look lovely.

  3. PAlexander looks good in her new hat. It is so nice to see that punchy green color on the neutral base. I wish I could see her whole ensemble, but I can see green in the top. Zenouska and Flora look very nice, too. They seem all one note, though.
