Royal Hats

A new rusty orange feather trimmed hat for the Queen this morning while Zara Tindall looked to be sporting a new felt cocktail hat. The Duchess of Cambridge repeated her navy wide brimmed design and the Duchess of Cornwall repeated her red feather trimmed beret.

Princess Tunku Aminah of Malaysia was married on Monday to Dutch born Dennis Muhammad

Wonderful shot of the Prince of Wales taking the salute during the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo on Wednesday

Article about Stephen Jones, his history, and his recent work in the amazing Dior exhibit (Australian Financial Review).

Interesting piece about Princess Diana’s hats (with lots and lots of photos) with insight provided by her longtime milliner, John Boyd

Jane Corbett announced her retirement this week, bringing a close to 21 years of millinery design

New hat designs that jumped out at me this week:

White straw slice with summery citrus-hued feather trim from Aoife Harrison
Purple upswept brim with roses & layered hatbands from Dillon Wallwork
White straw button hat with jewelled black and white feather trim from Irish milliner Ann Murphy
Striking black wool fedora with gold feather trim from Vivien Sheriff’s new fall collection
Grey felt floral headpiece from Rachel Trevor Morgan
This black lace beaded and feathered halo brimmed hat from Australian royal milliner Neil Grigg

And this great every-day red twill beret from Karen Henricksen, whose “Hats For Every Woman” project is modelled by real world women (BRAVO).

  1. Please remove this if not allowed, but I was just browsing on Etsy and found this shop!
    https://www.etsy.com/shop/Petershams

If I had a place to wear hats, I would buy one of everything! I’d never seen this shop before and I’m not at all associated with it, I’d just thought I’d share with fellow hat lovers!

  2. Princess Athena of Denmark also started school this week – but was much less co-operative for the cameras! There are some strong genes in Mary and Fred’s family – the two girls look so much alike.

  3. Loved the purple hat by Dillon Wallwork! Princess Josephine seemed uncharacteristically shy in that picture. Usually, she is hamming it up! I read the Princess Diana article. I am glad she felt comfortable in the designer studios and that they never gossiped about her to the press. She needed more places like that in her short life.
