From 2008 until 2018, Queen Elizabeth wore this red felt hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan with silk roses and a beaded, double figure eight bow on at least twelve occasions. Don’t you love when a royal hat is so beloved by its wearer?!
A third garden party took place at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday, attended by the Duchess of Cambridge, Earl and Countess of Wessex and Princess Alexandra.
The Duchess of Cambridge repeated her coral straw beret percher with layered crin ruffle in three shades of pink. Many of us have been waiting for a second wearing of this design and it’s pairing with a new coral coat dress was spot-on.
Designer: Jane Taylor bespoke version of the ‘Seriatoporah’ from SS 2017. Coat dress by Emilia Wickstead. Previously Worn: June 17, 2017
The countess of Wessex repeated her cream striped crin hat. Built on a straw button base, this variation on a saucer shape features a wide fold that flutes the left side of the design. The hat is trimmed with grey and cream twists and a pair of black feathers. With her pale floral dress, the hat topped a wonderfully airy summer look. Prince Edward repeated his gleaming black antique silk top hat.
In May 2007, Queen Elizabeth and the Duke of Edinburgh took a six day trip to the United States. For their arrival at the White House, the Queen wore a white cloche with sloped crown overlaid in black lace trimmed with a large feather and lace flower. The Rachel Trevor Morgan designed hat toped a great look for Her Majesty!
Queen Silvia repeated her royal blue straw hat with rounded crown and gently upswept brim. The hat is and is trimmed with a pleated blue silk hatband and a side spray of blue silk flowers.
Crown Princess Victoria and Princess Sofia joined in for official photos, both in white headpieces. Victoria wore another (new I think?) ringed headpiece with large flower spray around the back of one side while Sofia wore a wide bandeau.
I’ve picked a personal favourite today but one that stands out in the Queen’s history of hats for it’s unexpected but quietly striking colour scheme in palest aqua and peach. She wore to unveil a monument to the Women of World War II on July 9, 2005, for the April 23, 2006 service of thanksgiving marking her 80th birthday, and to open the National Welsh Assembly on June 5, 2007.
